Can sit remote if communication is great. Job Description H&R Block is working on Phase II of re-writing a legacy financial app into a new app called Block Accounting Center. Mid-level software engineers - We are kicking off Phase II of a large financial application build. When first joining the team, these two roles will be responsible for understanding the current production code. Theyll be working on maturing the production environment with DevOps processes, logging, and unit test cases. Theyll also work on enhancement tasks. Once theyve gotten a handle on current state, theyll be moved to work on new development. Well take local or remote. Works closely with engineering team to design, develop and maintain software components and products that support H&R Block business applications. Development o Uses tools, languages, coding standards and best practices to develop new product features and maintain year over year product functionality and enhancements. o Designs, develops and maintains software components o Maintains and improves current knowledge on the latest technologies relevant to the role regarding algorithms, language, design methodology, third-party development tools, application platforms, hardware compatibility and operating systems. Participates in technical design and code reviews for all new enhancements and maintenance work delivered. Process o Works closely with the QA, UX and other related teams to ensure consistent understanding of requirements and approach. o Understands business and functional requirements. o Creates and maintains documentation of design approaches o Creates and maintains documentation on internal architecture of the system.
