Job Title: GIS Data Analyst Location: Remote Duration: 6 months Visa: except H1b , opt & cpt Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical GIS Analyst to join our team. The GIS Analyst will play a crucial role in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting geospatial data to support our projects and initiatives. The ideal candidate is proficient in GIS software, spatial analysis, and data visualization techniques, and possesses a strong understanding of geographic information systems. Responsibilities: Geospatial Data Analysis: Collect, process, and manage geospatial data from various sources, including maps, satellite imagery, and databases. Perform spatial analysis using GIS software to derive insights, identify patterns, and solve spatial problems. Mapping and Visualization: Create accurate and visually appealing maps, charts, and visualizations to effectively communicate geospatial information. Design and format maps based on project requirements, ensuring clarity and relevance. Data Quality and Accuracy: Conduct data quality assessments to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of geospatial datasets. Assist in data entry, validation, and correction to maintain high-quality data. Spatial Queries and Analysis: Execute spatial queries and geoprocessing tasks to extract specific information from spatial databases. Perform spatial analyses such as buffer analysis, proximity analysis, and overlay operations. Database Management: Maintain GIS databases and update spatial and attribute data as needed. Organize and structure data to ensure efficient access and retrieval. GIS Software Utilization: Utilize GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) to create, edit, and analyze geospatial data. Stay updated with the latest GIS tools and techniques to enhance analytical capabilities. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide geospatial support for various projects. Communicate findings and insights through reports, presentations, and visualizations. Documentation and Recordkeeping: Document data sources, methodologies, and workflows to ensure transparency and reproducibility. Maintain accurate records of analyses, projects, and datasets. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in geography, geospatial sciences, environmental science, or a related field. Proven experience working with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, ArcObjects, ArcGIS Server and ARCIMS) and proficiency in spatial analysis techniques. Familiarity with database management, data entry, and data quality assessment. Strong knowledge of cartography principles and map design. Proficiency in using geospatial data formats (shapefiles, geodatabases, raster datasets, etc.). Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
