Duration: 6 Months (Extensions Possible) Important Note: Hours per week will vary between 20-40. Migration must take place between the hours of 3-11pm. After onboarding to the project, hours may be flexible based on skill and experience of the candidate for independent after-hours work. A technical skills matrix sheet is requested for each candidate and will be used for evaluation. Skill Matrix (Should be filled) VMware vSphere 3 VMware vCenter 3 VMware VSAN The MS Department of ITS currently uses a 3rd party vendor as an MSP in our state datacenter to host VMs in their VMware environment. ITS is building a new VMware infrastructure, also on premises in our state datacenter, to replace the MSP vendors environment. The project will need 2 additional temporary staff members to assist with VM migrations after hours. This position is for non-standard work hours. Many existing customers will want to wait until after business hours to have their servers migrated to the new environment. ITS is looking for qualified VMware-experienced candidates to help with VM migrations after hours. Candidates will work with current full-time VMware staff to understand the migration schedule and take direction to perform/continue those migrations into the late evening hours. Workday hours that overlap and allow time for handoff from full-time staff prior to 4:00pm is desired, but actual hours may be slightly flexible. There will be required attendance for some pre-planning and architecture Teams/Zoom meetings with the team at the start of the project that will require ~10+ hours per week, but once migration work begins the candidate can expect a potentially variable 20- 40 hours per week, depending on agency cooperation and scheduling, until the project is completed. Qualified candidates will have demonstrable experience working as a VMware administrator, performing VM migrations between disparate VMware environments, and troubleshooting to work through any migration issues to ensure migration schedules stay on track. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in VMware vSphere, VSAN, NSX, and HCX. Highest preference will be given to those candidates with related experience and certifications in any or all of these technologies. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in VMware administration and migration projects for the state or local public sector, in consideration of the unique challenges of public sector business needs. Preference will be given to those candidates who submit a technical skills matrix, which will be used in the evaluation of the candidates experience. Keywords: microsoft Idaho |
