This position will hybrid based in the Dallas/Fort Worth TX area requiring in office 3 times a week. Education and/or Experience BS/BA Degree (four year) from an accredited university/college AND Four to ten years of experience as a Data Engineer Computer Skills Experienced with SQL and data warehousing, particularly star schema models Python experience required Google Big Query, Microsoft Azure Synapse, Data Factory, SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, or similar tools Experience with cloud-based data warehouse platforms a plus Git source control and Agile methodology preferred Power BI or similar tools highly preferred R, SAS or other relevant experience in data analytics is a plus C#, Java, or similar programming experience a plus MS Office programs Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Microsoft Azure certifications is a plus GCP certification is a plus Position Summary The Senior Data Engineer serves as a developer for data extract, transform and load processes, primarily for use in the data warehouse or for reporting and analytics. This role is focused on transforming source system input data to a star schema / dimensional model output reliably and at scale. There is a large focus on data quality, deduplication, end-to-end data flows and placing business logic in the appropriate layer. The candidate needs to be a team player and work well with others, both in person and in virtual meetings. A strong attention to detail, coupled with a sense of ownership of the deliverables is a must. The ability to deal with ambiguity and changes in direction while working on multiple projects is very important to succeed in this role. Having a consulting mindset of solving problems rather than taking orders is another important aspect. There is a strong focus on financial business processes, understanding how applications work and store data, dataflow documentation, deduplication, aggregation and cleansing of data. Data warehousing experience is a must, with a strong focus on performance tuning, optimization, and deduplication to ensure scalability and correctness of the system. Experience from the financial sector, data warehousing, SQL Server / TSQL, Python Power BI, agile, and cloud computing, particularly MS Azure or GCP, are strongly preferred. Exposure to data modeling, primarily for data warehousing, is a plus. As a person you need to enjoy learning new things and growing your skillset.
