State of Idaho, Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) is seeking a Software Engineer contractor to join our team, responsible for the development and maintenance of our WIC (Womens/Infant/Children) website (.NET, MVC & Web Forms) .NET, MVC, and Web Forms website. The successful candidate will have a strong background in web development using .NET technologies and possess a passion for creating efficient, scalable, and user-friendly web applications. The selected resource will play a key role in the design, implementation, and enhancement of our web platform, contributing to the success of our organization and delivering exceptional user experiences.

Job duties:

Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure web applications using .NET MVC and Web Forms technologies.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to gather requirements and define project specifications.

Take ownership of the entire software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing and deployment.

Identify and address performance bottlenecks, ensuring optimal performance and responsiveness of the web applications.

Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in the application, providing timely and effective solutions to maintain system stability.

Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, adhering to industry best practices and coding standards.

Participate in code reviews to provide constructive feedback and ensure code quality.

Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in .NET technologies, incorporating them into the development process when appropriate.

Work with the DevOps team to streamline the deployment process and ensure seamless integration of the web applications with existing systems.

Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to develop comprehensive test plans and perform thorough testing to guarantee the reliability and functionality of the applications.

Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment within the team.

Home Office Setup: The candidate must have a dedicated home office or workspace that is conducive to productive work. This includes a reliable high-speed internet connection and a personal computer that meets the necessary hardware and software requirements (latest OS and Virus software) to support the development environment.  The candidate will supply their own hardware necessary to connect/remote to a department provided developer machine via the department portal.

Team Collaboration: Even though this is a telecommuting position, the candidate will still be required to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Therefore, strong teamwork and collaboration skills are essential.

Adherence to Company Policies: The candidate must comply with all department policies related to telecommuting, data security, code management, and any other relevant policies and procedures.

The candidate will need to install Webex on their personal computer to be able to connect to IDHW servers when they are required to be present for online meetings.  Audio and visual are required (when requested).
