MD THINK is an innovative, cloud-based platform and solution enabling multiple State agencies to share and manage data in one convenient place. MD THINK modernizes all the major health and human services systems in the State of Maryland and integrates multiple state health and human services programs and applications that support the most vulnerable citizens. Duties/Responsibilities: Ensuring the availability, performance, security, and integrity of databases, including Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and MongoDB Manage and administer the AWS-based databases, including Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and MongoDB, ensuring high availability and data integrity. Monitor and tune the performance of databases to maintain optimal efficiency and responsiveness, addressing performance bottlenecks proactively. Implement and oversee database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data is protected and can be restored as needed. Implement and enforce security measures, access controls, and encryption protocols to protect sensitive data stored in the databases. Plan and execute database upgrades and patching, staying current with the latest releases and security fixes. Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for the databases, including failover and replication mechanisms. Identify and resolve database-related issues, working closely with development teams and other stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve problems. Assist with database migration efforts, ensuring smooth data transfer and minimal downtime during migrations. Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Identify opportunities for automation in database administration tasks and develop scripts or tools to streamline repetitive processes. Stay informed about AWS cloud best practices and recommendations, implementing these practices in database management. Ensure that databases adhere to regulatory compliance standards and participate in audits as needed. Educational Qualification: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline. A Master's Degree is preferred. General Experience: At least ten (10) years of experience as a Senior Database Administrator, managing diverse databases in an AWS cloud environment. Expertise in administering Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and MongoDB databases. Strong understanding of database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security best practices. Familiarity with AWS cloud services, IAM roles, and security groups for database administration. Experience with database migration tools and techniques. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address database-related issues. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross functional teams and stakeholders. AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect, are advantageous.
