Position Description: The EIS Data Integration and Data Warehouse Specialist works within the Baltimore Police Department's Information Technology Division to support data integration between its new Early Intervention System (EIS) and its Talend Data Warehouse platform. The EIS Data Integration and Data Warehouse Specialist also creates direct interfaces between the EIS and numerous law enforcement software applications. The EIS Data Integration and Data Warehouse Specialist is responsible for all facets of the data integration design/development, web services/API support, and data ETL processes. The EIS Data Integration and Data Warehouse Specialist joins a team of other specialists who develop, operate and support the Talend data warehouse environment. Education: Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or other related discipline. Experience At least ten (10) years of IT industry experience. At least five (5) years of experience in data warehouse architecture, ETL design and development. Strong technical experience with Talend ETL data layer. Strong technical experience with Talend ETL development. Strong technical experience with Talend Hash Map development. Strong technical experience with building framework-based ETL workflow to ingest, transform and aggregate data. Experience in ETL methodology for performing Data Profiling, Data Migration, and Data Extraction, Transformation and Loading with Talend. Experience in implementing complex business rules by creating reusable transformations and robust mappings using Talend transformations. Experience in creating Talend ETL jobs using ETL methodologies and best practices by following naming standards. Experience with industry standard CICD methods. Experience with Microsoft Azure. Experience with Tableau report-writing and dashboarding. Experience with data integration tools such as Talend, Informatica, Data Stage. Experience with database technologies such as Redshift, Aurora, Oracle, Teradata and Vertica. High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. Skills Requirements: Role Specifics Provides technical support, guidance and consultation with subject matter and issues related to data warehousing, integrations and supported applications. Develops and supports integrations and interfaces directly between software applications as well as between software applications and the Talend data warehouse. Develops and executes ETL projects, activities and processes in the Talend Data Warehouse environment. Writes complex SQLs to analyze and troubleshoot issues and problems. Completes related projects as assigned. Attributes Deep understanding of data analysis, data architecture, data cleaning and data quality. Deep understanding of SQL and stored procedures. Deep understanding of BI/DW architecture and concepts. Deep understanding of how data governance plays a role in BI/DW. Deep understanding of how multiple data sources can be consolidated together to produce BI solutions. Possesses strong data analysis and troubleshooting skills. Ability to partner across BPD IT to support agile project development and short cycle iterations to deliver continuous business value. Excellent writing and oral communications skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to details. Strong relationship management and collaboration skills.
