I think its the PowerBI side that wasnt strong enough. They need both Cognos and PowerBI and be strong in both. IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE: Initially, they will need this person to build Cognos reports from ground-up, in some cases. This means that this person needs to be strong in Cognos report development. However, once these critical reports are built in Cognos, they will shift focus to migrating off of Cognos and onto a PowerBI / SQL DataLake environment. They will also need to be strong in PowerBI / SQL DataLakes to help design and deploy the migration off of Cognos. THE MOST CRITICAL REQUIREMENT IS THE COGNOS REPORT DEVELOPMENT AND THEY MUST BE ABLE TO DEVELOP COGNOS REPORTS HANDS-ON. That will be the primary function of this role for the first 3-6mths THEN they will ASSIST IN THE MIGRATION TO POWERBI / DATALAKE ENVIRONMENTS. BOTH SKILLS ARE REQUIRED!!! Title: Cognos / PowerBI Developer Location : Dallas, TX 75254 (the initial 3-4 weeks will be onsite work 3-4 days per week | up to 100% remote thereafter) One month hybrid then 100% remote work, so need candidates only local to Dallas only. JOB SUMMARY The immediate need will be for the Cognos / PowerBI Developer to immediately address, clean-up, and create critical financial reports in Cognos. Once those reports are created (estimated completion 3-6mths), the Cognos / PowerBI Developer will then begin to design, plan, develop, execute, and deploy the company-wide migration from Cognos to a PowerBI and SQL DataLake environment. The Cognos / PowerBI Developer will have the opportunity to join, assist in the growth of, and emerge as a leader of a high-performing Business Intelligence Team.
