| From: Peter Edward, Tekgence.com [email protected] Reply to: [email protected] Hi, Postgres DBA Remote Long term Northern Trust KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES: Application/Development DBA support for MS SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration preferably on Aurora/RDS platform. Perform code migrations from MS SQL Server to Aurora PostgreSQL. Help developers on migrating Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, and other codes from MSSQL Server to PostgreSQL. Deep experience on doing Code Conversion and Data Migration from MSSSQL Server to PostgreSQL using tools such as SCT and DMS. Provide extensive support for performance tuning for PostgreSQL databases. Develop and document database migration policies, procedures, and standards. Provide support to our application teams. Mentor/Train application developers designing, writing, and enhancing the existing business logic code for highly performing in PostgreSQL. Develop best practices for coding and enforce these standards across the team. Remain up to date with developments and trends in the database arena. WORK EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE: Deep experience of working as an Application DBA with PostgreSQL and MSSQL Server. Deep understanding of PostgreSQL and MSSQL Server database internals. Two+ years of solid experience on migrating MSSQL Server objects (Stored Procedure, Functions, Triggers etc.) to PostgreSQL. Strong PLPGSQL and T-SQL experience. Excellent skill in database problem diagnostic, troubleshooting, and performance tuning. Knowledge of DevOps/Infra as Code practices and tools like Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo. Must have working knowledge with Agile methodologies and tools like Confluence/JIRA. SKILLS / OTHER PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED: Motivated self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit Strong communicator (written and verbal) and listener. Possesses diplomacy and the cooperative style necessary to interface effectively with all personalities and across functional disciplines. Proven ability to effectively sell ideas and build consensus at all levels within the organization. Strong analytical skills with ability to define, collect, analyze data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make fact-based decisions. Handling multiple tasks and balancing multiple objectives, while consistently ensuring that highest priority commitments are delivered on schedule. FORMAL EDUCATION: A bachelors degree in software engineering or computer science is preferred. Must have formal training on PostgreSQL and Microsoft (MS) SQL Server. Training on other AWS Cloud databases a plus. LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION: Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL Database Certification is preferred. AWS Cloud and PostgreSQL database certification is a plus.
