Job Title: Senior SQL Server DBA LOCATION: NYC (ONSITE For 1st month, then REMOTE) Duration: 12 months VISA: EAD GC, GC or USC Job Description ***Must have recent Sr Level DBA experience with 30tb plus Databases*** ***Must have recent experience working for a global bank or major financial services firm*** ***Must be able to work onsite for the first month or so and then may possibly go remote*** ***Must have DBA experience in large Applications*** We are seeking to assemble a team of dedicated consultants to join our client"s esteemed Global DBA team, which operates within a renowned Global Bank. As part of this team, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all new database code adheres to the highest company standards in terms of readability, reliability, and performance. Your weekly tasks will involve providing developers with a curated list of the top 10 most resource-intensive queries on the server and offering valuable insights on how to enhance their performance. In addition, you will be tasked with designing indexes for existing applications and making informed decisions on when to add or remove indexes to optimize efficiency. When confronted with user complaints regarding the performance of specific queries, you will play a pivotal role in assisting developers in refining the query, tweaking it, or modifying indexes to resolve the issue. Moreover, you will be responsible for conducting informative SQL Server lunch-and-learn sessions to empower application developers with valuable knowledge. Your expertise will be sought in advising developers on the most efficient database designs, encompassing tables, data types, stored procedures, functions, and more. To excel in this role, you must possess substantial experience, including: 1. A minimum of one year of experience in writing and enhancing SQL Server T-SQL queries, making you the go-to person for T-SQL inquiries. 2. Proficiency in designing tables and selecting appropriate data types. 3. Utilization of tools like Profiler traces and DMV queries to identify frequently executed queries. 4. Familiarity with free tools like sp_BlitzIndex and DMV queries to address questions related to index usage. 5. Experience in providing on-call troubleshooting for SQL Server service outages. 6. The ability to determine whether clustering, log shipping, mirroring, replication, or other methods are suitable to address specific business challenges.
