From: Jyoti, kpg99 [email protected] Reply to: [email protected] TITLE: Communications Technology Advisor-Network Engineer VISA: USC/GC LOCATION: Nashville (Onsite) $40/HR ON C2C - NON NEGGOTIABLE Position Description: This open competitive position within the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department is responsible for the design, purchase, build, installation, and support of assigned networking equipment and network monitoring tools for the Government of Nashville & Davidson County Departments and Agencies. This includes identifying and leading the resolution of problems to provide better service to our customers. This position is expected to demonstrate advanced knowledge and proficiency in the maintenance and management of network infrastructure and support services. ITS is a 24x7 information technology shop. Applicants must be willing and available to perform duties as required by the job. This may include work on nights, weekends and holidays and may include overtime hours but only as necessary. Identifies and leads resolution of problems to provide better service to information services customers including daily administration, MACD support, maintenance, and problem resolution for assigned customer service requests and incidents across all layers of the OSI model. Oversee the management of complex networking projects to improve the overall health of the network environment including ensuring related support information is documented and communicated. Develop purchase requirements and ensure adherence to specifications. Provide high-level updates to Senior and Executive Leadership teams while providing detailed oversight of assigned projects, tasks, or incidents as appropriate. Collaborate in identifying and addressing gaps in service policies, practices, and procedures. Research new technologies and develop strategies for related annual planning and upcoming initiatives. Coordinate and communicate with multiple areas within ITS and key customers to ensure that customer needs are met within the framework of ITS standards and policies. Manage hardware and software configurations, patches, and upgrades. Aggressive maintenance of networking skill sets and active acquisition of new skills Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Any combination of education and experience that would prepare the incumbent to perform the duties of the position at the appropriate level. Employees would typically have thorough (6 years) experience in networking and demonstrated expertise with Cisco Networking products, enterprise networking environment, and network performance monitoring tools. Successful candidates will also have experience communicating complex technical material to both technical and non-technical audiences and have the ability to analyze complex information to solve difficult problems. Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Extensive knowledge and understanding of OSPF, MPLS, and BGP Background in creating and implementing networking design documentation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal and collaboration skills Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification a plus Experience in Python scripting a plus Keywords: green card |
