Job Description:

Seeking a project manager to assist with the initial set-up of the Project Management Office, including the development of project management tools, including processes, best practices, guides, templates, and forms. The office has been providing project management and general analysis services and is now focusing on the project management of more complex projects. Must be able to:

Provide lead direction and senior level subject matter expertise.

Coordinate complex and specialized work to assess current tools and office needs and produce an office toolkit that will facilitate the development of project management plans with specified timelines, goals, and regular assessment of project status, including: 

o            Develop initiating tasks, including the creation of the project charter, scope of the project, roles and responsibilities, deliverables, communication goals, and identify stakeholders.

o            Develop and maintain project plans; define resources, assumptions, constraints, identify dependencies and create workplan and schedule for implementation.

o            Identify risk and create and execute strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.

o            Plan and ensure timely creation and review of project deliverables and milestones.

o            Identify and coordinate project meetings and milestone communications.

o            Evaluate project progress and resource use and modify project plan as appropriate.

o            Identify and solve project conflicting priorities and issues.

o            Ensure quality documentation is created and maintained.

o            Complete project closing to assess client satisfaction and identify internal lessons.

Skills/Qualifications Desired:          

            Experience related to project management and coordination, including developing and managing scope, planning, executing, and monitoring projects to meet project goals and requirements.

            Familiarity with project management methodologies and project management software that includes cost estimation, scheduling, workload capacity, and organization features.

            Experience providing direction to individuals or a team.

            Experience and skill in time management to ensure tasks are completed on-time and in an efficient manner.

            Skill in negotiation and managing conflict.

            Experience in identifying, negotiating, and managing stakeholder expectations.

            Ability to effectively communicate information to various audiences.

            Experience organizing and facilitating meetings, including creating agendas, guiding discussions, and reviewing outcomes.

            Experience documenting technical processes and information.

            Experience evaluating and assessing the results of the project.

Description of Tasks and Responsibilities

Assess office project management tool needs in providing project management and general analysis support to internal subject matter offices.

Assess current office project management tools and identify gaps.

Identify appropriate software solutions based on the office needs and activities and propose solutions, identifying the software strengths and gaps.

Develop a workplan for the creation of the office toolkit.

Develop project management tools and templates assist with the development of a projects:

            project charter

            scope of project

            identification of roles and responsibilities

            identification of deliverables

            communication goals

            identification of stakeholders

            identification of resources

            identification of assumptions, constraints and dependencies

            identification of conflicting priorities and issues

            workplan and schedule, including identification of milestone communications

            identification of risk and creation of strategies to mitigate risk and contingency plan

            progress reports

            document creation and maintenance

            close out to assess client satisfaction and identify internal lessons
