Description: Summary: The main function of a Database Administrator is to provide database support on a variety of hardware and software platforms and peripherals. Job Responsibilities: Provide on-site database and system support Monitor, collect statistical information, and provide reporting on capacity and system performance based on statistics, make recommendations to maintain and improve capacity and system performance. Monitor the system, and act upon system and application automated alerts. Perform diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of software, o/s, and database issues (ex. correcting installation, configuration, or data problems)Plan and perform software installation, configuration, upgrade and patching. Plan and perform database configuration, maintenance, upgrade and patching. Perform and manage system and database backups. Perform manual switch to redundant system / database components, in case of system failure. Qualifications: Experience in providing technical support, covering database administration and operations to include monitoring maintenance capacity, performance monitoring/planning and incident/problem troubleshooting and resolution. Strong knowledge of SQL Understanding of Help Desk tools and trouble ticket tracking processes. Job Responsibilities: Work with development team to ensure data life cycle commitments and requirements are successfully met including records retention, data migration, back-up, recovery and archiving requirements and verification. Serve as the primary data designer for complex component designs for one or more areas (subsystems) of a project, product or program. Build, test, deploy, and document complex data components of a project, product, and/or program level solution including queries, procedures, reports, data marts, views, DML and DDLs. Recommend new database approaches and tools. Develop and present related documentation, presentations, and discussion. Implement, customize, maintain and administer nonproduction databases and database management systems including managing database related code deployment. Optimize database performance levels by tuning queries/procedures/reports, schemas and database management system parameters.
