The Variable Speed Drive group is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a fast-paced group that provides new products, technical and manufacturing support for variable speed drives worldwide. The position requires working closely with various internal departments and/or external customers to ensure product performance and integrity. Candidate will be required to create new product development 3D CAD models for model based definition, Electro-Mechanical, Regulatory (UL, European Norm, and IEEE) and assist with projects including but not limited to Manufacturing & Plant support, Qualification Testing, Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Notices. Essential Responsibilities: Assists with tasks that include new product design, quality assurance, materials recommendations, purchasing, assembly troubleshooting, regulatory requirements, and inventory planning. Assist with the coordination, tracking, and reporting of group goals. Conduct assignments involving high profile projects. Work with product line and engineering experts to meet design verification requirements. Can produce, check and approve mechanical, manufacturing and schematic drawings and working layouts for product designs. Check and verify assembly or component drawings to ensure they conform to BH standards. Identify problems and propose solutions to various engineering and manufacturing technical issues. Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field with a minimum of 1 year of mechanical design engineering experience. Possess problem solving and project management skills. Proficient with 3D CAD software SolidWorks with a minimum of 1 year. Able to work independently and on teams; sound decision-making ability. Possess good communication skills Desired Characteristics: Experience with SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, SolidWorks Composer. Familiarity with Environmental design and testing, in particular UL50, UL157, and IEC 60529.
