Job Title : Controls Engineer Employment Type : Contract Location : New Freedom, PA, US Job Description Controls Engineer What You Will Do: Provide controls engineering / technical support to manufacturing operations in troubleshooting, rebuilding and repair of electrical equipment and automated systems Provide controls engineering background for continuous improvement of manufacturing operations through the design, selection and installation of new equipment and systems as well as the improvement of existing equipment. Incorporates PLC programming to the production process that provide reliable production operation, reduce electrical energy cost, reduced cycle time and increase OEE productivity. Troubleshoots networking and server issues. Create and maintain controls & networking documentation of equipment and systems. Develop the architecture, PLC logic programming and HMI operator interface for production equipment. Facilitate projects including operational specifications, sequence of operation, schematic drawings, PLC logic programming, installation drawings, onsite commissioning, and validation of the system design. Design and specify machine control systems; integrated automation including robotics and servo controls; HMI systems; and data collection systems, according to design standard Provide training to reliability technicians, including assisting in writing and developing standard operating procedures Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline 3 - 5 years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment 3 - 5 years of experience PLC and HMI troubleshooting and programming experience PLC and HMI software experience and aptitude (Allen Bradley, Red Lion Controls HMI, PanelView, etc.) Electrical and control experience Ability to write, understand and troubleshoot PLC software in ladder, function chart, structured text, or sequential function languages Ability to read, understand, and create electrical and control schematics bility to troubleshoot and debug electrical and control circuits Understanding of process and machine control Ability to manage details of technical requirements including task assignments, tracking and communications Ability to manage workload effectively (planning, organization, communication of tasks) Strong teamwork skills (will be part of multidisciplinary teams working major developments) At least partial (> 3 days per week) in person work (New Freedom, PA) Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of virtualized environments Refrigeration system knowledge (chillers, heat pumps, etc.) Mechanical aptitude (connection to the "system" they're controlling) Networking and server experience Strong troubleshooting skillset in a deadline-driven environment Basic computer literacy Demonstrates ability to interface professionally with all departments Must be adaptable to change and able to make decisions and take responsibility Excellent oral and written communication skills with colleagues, customers, vendors, and in-house departments to achieve successful common goals. Programming level knowledge of Shell, Perl/Python. Ability to troubleshoot, resolve complex problems, with a fix it once for everywhere and automation mentality. Effective oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to work well in a global-team environment.
