From: Shiva Chauhan, TEK Inspirations LLC [email protected] Reply to: [email protected] Hello, Hope you are doing well, Please check the below job description and let me know if you have any suitable candidate for the same: Role: Network Management Engineer Location: Baltimore, Owings Mills ( MD must be local & final round F2F) Only considering local candidates Hybrid: OM Tech Center, 2 days on-site, Most of the team is on-site on Tuesdays and 2nd day is flex Interview Process: 30 min video screens, in-person interview (1 hr) in OM tech center with panel: HM: Greg Welsh, Jim Miller (currently in the role and will be transitioning to another role- his backfill), ongoing need for this kind of a role Data center design team, number of individual space design for number of offices; this role is for network mgmt. tools set up, working with ops engineers data team, keeping the mgmt. up to speed and running. Updating, making any changes on devices, proactively alerting through SNOW for teams that are doing day to day support. Work closely with engineer team that design in-house dashboard for monitoring visibility, combo of off the shelf and home grown tools and scripts wen off shelf tools dont met the needs Normal business hours, there might be a few days in a year they may need off hour support, but thats rare In this network monitoring role, he is an extension, make sure the items are correctly are monitored if any outages are reported, they are altered in a timely manner, they use a third party monitoring tool and custom scripting on a Linux server platform: what Jim mainly does, additionally, they work with security and cyber secops team to work on network related data Languages involve in custom scripting they maintain: integration from their 3rd partymonitoro9nig software is Perl based, has been in place for over a decade now, custom integration and handling, some python scripting but need strong Perl knowledge and background would be beneficial Top 3 Tools/ Protocols: in extension to network ops and making sure things are monitored, general network protocols (IP addresses, BNPC, authentications, SNMP, syslogs, etc.), languages: if they have a network background in monitoring: HP OpenView or others would be okay- these can be picked up if they have one Jim will be doing knowledge transfer Role involves collaboration with multiple groups (support role): good collab and communication skills- both written and verbal, there is a little bit of MS need to look through email, not a lot of presentations or word doc required Mostly being open to take on an issue instead of relying on another team member with any type of troubleshooting, etc.- deal with it as if its their issue/ jump in right away type of attitude, self-starter, independent worker, someone not afraid to use their resources (research if needed) to find the resolution if they dont know something, owing something and running with it instead of waiting for direction Theyre current doing redhat 6 to 8 upgrade, thats about 50% of the day currently, but day to day, there isnt a set % of what type of work they will be doing. Their server exists with custom Perl and python scripting, applying tools on Linux platform with custom scripts is where majority of work will rely on Integrations are in place, unless they have to renew SSL cert or have some major changes, those integrations would stay as they are Rest, SOAP, XML, APIs, Python are all plus to have Team Size: 1 in this type of role right now, Jim collabs with another team member (works on CA tools), when Jim leaves, it would just be this one resource in this role, 6 other team members under greg that doing design work for corp side. Ops team is about 40-50 that covers at networking, enterprise, data networking, internet connectivity, 3rd party carrier, etc. Network Management Focused Software Engineer The Network Management Engineer works closely with Technology Services Infrastructure personnel to evaluate, recommend, and implement a suite of proactive management tools needed to maintain a stable and efficient converged data, voice, and video network environment. The position configures and maintains off-the-shelf management tools for real-time and historical visibility into network fault and performance. Keeps tool versions up to date while following change control procedures and works with management tool vendors as needed to deal with software deficiencies. When off-the-shelf tools are insufficient, this position leverages software development skills to maintain, modify, and create customized programs, tools and scripts providing enhanced productivity through automation and increasing visibility into infrastructure health and performance. Research and provide timely resolution to any management tool issues that may compromise Network Operations proactive visibility into network infrastructure.
