Please find the attached Job Description Title: Database Programmer/Administrator Location: Davis, CA (Remote) Duration: 6+ Months About Role: The incumbent is involved in all aspects of designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining ETL programs. This includes gathering requirements, retrieving data from various clinical, financial, and external sources, validating, and curating the data, administering databases, and transforming the data into usable and well-documented data structures. As a senior-level database programmer/administrator, the incumbent will work on highly technical and complex projects focused on reorganizing the existing research informatics data model. They will work with a high level of autonomy, with minimal day-to-day management input or oversight, utilizing their advanced knowledge of data management systems and their familiarity with complex data design and mapping. The incumbent will also maintain and update existing database schemas, data dictionaries, and other database-related documentation. They are responsible for providing support and troubleshooting data-related issues. Function A: ETL Development, Administration and Maintenance Develop, design and implement complex, robust data transformations to meet business requirements for customers across the Health System. Responsible for leading special projects, development of data marts, automation of data acquisition and integration of complex data from various sources. Design, develop, and implement scripts and tools necessary to monitor and improve delivery of data across the UC Davis Enterprise. Promote and coordinate emerging analytic technologies to improve current processes enterprise-wide. Perform coding and/or configuration to meet documented needs, utilizing standard procedures and techniques. Identify and investigate data sources for purpose of data collection, automation, and validation. Develops documentation that supports operating procedures. Contribute to the development of test plans and participate in post-implementation reviews and support. Ensure the requirements for high availability and/or disaster recovery of the reporting tools are implemented and periodically reviewed and validated. Provide support of highly complex academic, clinical and operational projects including SQL development (coding stored procedures, triggers, functions, jobs, and database schema), application data and database debugging. Plans, develops, and executes the most complex and sophisticated quality assurance testing, and designs and runs SQL (Structured Query Language) queries for enhanced medical data access for cross-functional use. Perform in-depth analysis and validation to deliver high quality data to internal and external teams. Plans, develops, and performs the most complex documentation and reporting of design, development, and deployment processes, workflows, and outcomes. Prepare support documentation and assist in training activities. Design, architect, and implement re-usable solutions for complex reporting system data loads and extracts. Prepare technical specifications illustrating data flow, ETL, and data model changes. Design, develop, and implement appropriate alerts and notifications for ETL failures. Create processes and procedures for addressing data load failures. Participate in the peer reviews and follow SDLC best practices. Manages database users and decides the proper security level for each user. Document ETL and other technical processes involved in data acquisitions for knowledge base. Function B: Business Analysis Provide council to leadership and stakeholders on how data can be best to curated to provide business value. Interpret and present complex data to executive leadership. Act as resource within the department regarding analytical approaches, data sources, and global health system perspectives to strategic issues. Analyze processes and design methods to integrate/interface new products into existing or new systems. Interface with project stakeholders/SMEs to clarify data requirements. Understand sources of data quality improvement and communicate to others. Perform in-depth analysis of the data assets and business requirements to understand and communicate the impact of data changes to the business users. Function C: Project Management Regularly track and report project progress and status. Escalate and resolve issues with other team members. Writes and assigns programming assignments for a matrixed team using Agile software development or other methods. Creates and develops project schedules with milestones and resource requirements. Schedules and leads recurring project status meetings, providing agenda and meeting recap with action items. Escalates issues and decisions as right to IT leadership and others. Communicates and interacts with executive management to set up and monitor project objectives and milestones. Conducts research, planning, documentation, and implementation of repairs, future enhancements, and future growth of Research Technology information systems infrastructure. Function D: Support Data Governance Follow UC Davis Health data, management policies, practices, and procedures. Maintain proper metadata documentation. Make proper use of Data Governance and Meta-Data management system.
