This includes programming, troubleshooting, servicing client networking requests, programming firewalls, being on call, and generally being the primary point of contact for all Data Center networking issues. This position will be our network expert with the highest level of practical, hands-on networking experience able to troubleshoot complex network issues using tools like packet captures and other network diagnostic tools. Data Center Lead Network Administrator for IET: Information & Educational Technology (IET) has a need for a Data Center Lead Network Administrator. Under general supervision of the Data Center Services Manager, this position will provide day-to-day network support for L2 and L3 data center networks. This includes programming, troubleshooting, servicing client networking requests, programming firewalls, being on call, and generally being the primary point of contact for all Data Center networking issues. This position will be our network expert with the highest level of practical, hands-on networking experience able to troubleshoot complex network issues using tools like packet captures and other network diagnostic tools. REQUIRED Qualifications that MUST be demonstrated on resume for consideration: Expert level F5 experience including installation, configuration, OS upgrades, iRules, load balancing Expert level experience configuring L2 networking including determining equipment, installation, configuration, VLANs, LAGs. Experience configuring and managing firewalls Experience with Cisco and Juniper switches. Experience with Fortinet firewalls including manager and analyzer. Experience writing and modifying code in php, python. Experience with SQL. Experience with VPNs, point to point and end user client VPNs. Primary Responsible for: Fortinet firewalls including analyzer and manager Brocade, cisco, and extreme L2/L3 switches Pulse VPN Operational experience on those platforms highly desirable. F5 expertise essential. Network admin will also drive forward replacement of existing DC perimeter firewalls upgrading from juniper to FortiGate. Essential Responsibilities: Network architect will have primary responsibly for F5 load balancers Fortinet firewalls including analyzer and manager Brocade, cisco, and extreme L2/L3 switches Ivanti/Pulse VPN 30 % F5 load balancers Provide primary, expert leadership, architecture design, and management of f5 load balancers. Expert level knowledge of load balancing, GSLB, SNAT, routing, iRules, URL rewriting, certificates. Maintain F5s in safe, consistent state. Primary responsibility for security of devices. Stay current on CVEs and apply patches. Upgrade hardware and OS when necessary. Lead load balancing discussions with clients. Provide leadership in hybrid on-prem/cloud (AWS) load balancing discussion. 30 % L2 network support Manage L2 network infrastructure at multiple data centers. Assign networking tasks to operations team. Upgrade existing mix of switches to juniper QFX. Design, manage, and own the network architecture. Primary point of contact for Data Center networking issues, tickets, architecture, and coordination with UCD NOC for Wan connectivity. 20 % programming support Provide adhoc programming and configuration management support when needed. Expertise using ansible for configuration management. Familiarity with PHP, python, Apache, MySQL for occasional programming needs. These are for home grown applications supporting configuration management, client charge back, and user-facing web portals. 10% Fortinet firewalls, analyzer, manager support Provide support and expertise for Fortinet firewall infrastructure. Assist in design and build out of firewalls. Lead networking architecture discussions of firewalls. Occasionally manage rules and policies via manager. Build reports via analyzer. Support point-to-point VPNs hosted on firewalls. 10 % iVanti VPN support Provide support for networking expertise for Ivanti/Pulse VPN platform. Lead networking discussions related to VPNs. Upgrade platform when needed. Engage with clients to understand needs then configure VPN accordingly. Integrate VPNs with AD authentication. Maintain licensing to ensure uninterrupted service The Important Stuff: MUST the required qualifications noted in JD demonstrated on resume. 12-month contract. Extension offered to those who perform well. Must have RECENT and relative NW Admin/Info Sys experience with the required technologies. Process: 2-3 Interviews, approval process, equipment checkout. Primarily Remote with the expectation that the contractor be on-site to attend any in-person meetings and support activities for assigned projects as needed. Resource will be responsible for any travel expenses to be on-site for in person meetings, which will be very minimal and limited. Travel time will not be considered work time.
