Job Description - Network Engineer Location: Pittsburgh, PA Hybrid work schedule, Need Only Local Candidate Role Hybrid, 3 days on site (Tuesday through Thursday), (Must be Local Candidate only or distance must be 1 hour drive) Duration: 12 Month Contract Visa: Citizen or GC only Pre-Sales Network Engineer role & responsibilities: Installs, manages, maintains and runs complex performance products as part of an end to end visibility strategy in various domains. Partners with application teams in the different stages of the lifecycle (development, test, staging, production operations, etc. ) to coach and assist them in reducing mean time to resolution and improving system and application performance. Has broad and in-depth knowledge of performance best practices on various domains including applications, databases, networks, etc. , and monitoring strategies including synthetic, real user, network connections, systems, and Java /NET code. Evaluates, recommends, and implements automated test tools and strategies. Collects and analyzes network performance information required for simulation modeling studies. May provide performance engineering expertise in contributing to simulation modeling projects. Provides input to project plans and recommends process improvements. Monitors progress project and provides regular status reports to management team. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives. Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of related experience required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is Required. Pre-Sales Network Design Engineer qualifications: Comfortable presenting Extranet design to External Clients, Vendors, and Partners. Develops Client-specific designs in PowerPoint and Visio using approved solutions. Understands application flow through a private Extranet connection, with respect to Firewalls, Load-balancers, and routers. Provides technical oversight to clients throughout onboarding process. Pre-Sales Network Engineer Required Skills/Experience: 1. External Client Presentation skills - outstanding 2. Diagram skills (Visio and PowerPoint) - outstanding 3. WAN Connectivity - VPN, MPLS, Managed Network Providers (Radianz, TNS, etc.), Colo Cross-connects - outstanding 4. Application Network Flow - able to understand - and diagram - application traffic (IPs and ports) from the core, through the DMZ, and out to the client 5. DMZ Components: Firewalls, Load Balancers, Cisco Routers, Cisco SDWAN 6. Network Monitoring and troubleshooting Duties: Face off with Vendors, Partners, external clients Provide tech that connects from BNY to the client Client facing / Soft skills is what is needed too Must explain well, creating presentations and Diagrams Creating solutions for the vendors and partners Architect Level - won't be logging into network devices 10 + years of experience Not making the changes for routers, making the "blue prints" Could be a Solution Engineer Understand how applications "Traverse" at the DMZ Splunk they use but not required (look at traffic on firewalls) Certs are nice but not make or break Finance experience is really helpful.
