This person will develop detailed design drawings from engineering data with minimum supervision, providing supporting analysis and documentation as required. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned. Capable of developing original design concepts based upon sound engineering principles without guidance. Design tasks include creating 2D layouts or 3D models from sketches and engineering data to determine size, shape and arrangement of components; also defining part requirements including dimensions, tolerances, finishes, material and clearance. Produce installation, assembly and detail drawings from 2D layouts or 3D models. Perform analysis to support design as required to complete assigned tasks or resolve technical issues. Provide technical direction and support to manufacturing throughout all phases of training equipment production including fabrication, assembly, test, and installation. Capable of handling multi tasks simultaneously. Demonstrate initiative and independent thought in developing potential solutions to problems using available tools and information. Capable of assuming team leader responsibilities; creating and organizing work packages as tasks for other team members. Perform within department budget and schedules. Approach problem solving from the point of view of what is the best overall solution. Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with both internal and external customers. Interact within a cooperative environment through beneficial behavior, commitment to common goals, contribution to problem solving, communication of ideas and suggestions, and encouragement to other employees and departments. Accountable for the control and distribution of documents and/or equipment subject to export control restrictions and the security of FSI materials, projects and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of FSI products. Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks. Able to adhere to a work schedule including prompt and regular attendance. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Travel and Overtime as required. MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: 2D drafting package and 3D modeling package, preferably AutoCad and SolidWorks. Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
