Company uses Power Bi extensively, and reports have grown organically over time through various contributors. Reports lack a style and uniformity so we are hoping this contractor can come in and help develop. Lots of meetings with end users and requirements gathering. Heavier on the UI than the UX side, and while technical skills are important, the people touch here will be the deciding factor for the right candidate. See job description for minimum requirements. Key Responsibilities: The incumbent is a highly skilled in Power BI with a specialization in creating visually appealing and user-friendly dashboards. Possess a strong user experience design sense, combined with advanced technical proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, to craft interactive and intuitive templates for PowerBI dashboards that transform complex data into actionable insights. Leads the development of a unified theme and template for all internal UMA dashboards. Advises on data visualization best practices and ensures an optimal UI/UX design for our reports and dashboards. Functional: Develop and maintain a standardized Power BI template that aligns with our branding and can be applied consistently across all internal dashboards in collaboration with business insights and marketing teams. Provide guidance on when and what types of charts should be used to effectively communicate data trends, patterns, and insights. Collaborate with our dashboard creators to ensure that visuals are strategically placed, the layout is user-friendly, and the overall user experience is enhanced. If necessary, create or recommend custom visualizations that enhance the presentation of specific data points. Offer training and guidance to internal teams on Power BI best practices for template usage, data visualization, and dashboard design (as needed). Create documentation and style guides for our Power BI templates, color theme, and best practices, ensuring consistent usage across the organization. Compliance: Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal policies and procedures. Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department. Work Experience, Skills & Abilities: Minimum Requirements: 6+ years in creating Power BI templates that are visually appealing, user friendly, and align with client goals and objectives. Understanding of UI/UX principles and their application in dashboard design. Strong knowledge of data visualization principles and best practices. Ability to recommend appropriate chart types for different data scenarios, Proficiency in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Services. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Experience with custom visuals and themes. Preferred Requirements: ( These are preferred ) Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g., UI/UX design, Data Analytics, Computer Science) Ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders. Power BI certification Working Environment: Fully remote role with only occasional on site or travel. Valid drivers license required. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
