Job Description

The Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is currently recruiting a qualified candidate to support the maintenance of TDHs Integrated Data System and associated business intelligence as a part of the Office of Informatics and Analytics (OIA). 

A qualified candidate must have experience working with MS SQL Server databases developing high-quality database solutions and possess in depth knowledge of database design and optimization. The candidate must have experience in Entity Management concepts, design, and implementation as well as experience in the ascertainment and integration of new data sources. This position 

will be responsible for the critical development of intermediate to advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions that ensure the overall infrastructure of the IDS is flexible and scalable to accommodate future needs.

Additionally, the position will be 

responsible for 

developing and supporting enterprise integration technologies including the development of IDS interfaces/interoperability. This position requires a

 solid understanding of computer science fundamentals and experience with the 

utilization and development of API processes

 working with program

s such as JSON, XML, SQL, and C#. This position will also be responsible for documenting all maintenance and update procedures to ensure that all future APIs and data sets are incorporated seamlessly within the IDS.

This position will also directly support OIAs data architect in the enhancement and maintenance of the Integrated Data System, the Integrated Data Warehouse and development of associated documentations.

Key Responsibilities:

       

Support development and maintenance of the Integrated Data System

       

Support development and administration of Entity Management processes in the IDS

Support development and administration of the TDHs Data Lake

Support development and administration of TDHs Cloud platform

       

Support development and maintenance of internal Surveillance program

Assist with development and execution of Quality Assurance protocols

Support business intelligence design and implementation

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience: 

 Preferred Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field. Consideration for related technical certifications and/or work experience. Experience in Structured Query Language (SQL) Server 2012 or later (5+ years).

Skills: 

Stored procedure development and optimization, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) development, and complex query development utilizing multiple large data sources using SQL 2012 or later. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Business Intelligence Development, Application Program Interface (API) development

Preferred Qualifications:  

Experience in SQL Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Application Program Interface (API) development, SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), working knowledge of Database design and implementation, and Healthcare Informatics preferred
