Top Skills' Details Need folks with broad enterprise software/solutions architecture AND documentation experience in the following areas: - Architecture Delivery AND Architecture Planning (roadmaps, research/strategy briefs, procurement support) experience across ALL facets of IT ( (app dev, data, cloud, infrastructure, working heavily within the SDLC on Agile teams, etc) - Governance/Security - writing/coordinating governance documents, documenting processes, managing risk/compliance - Soft skills/Intangibles (very important): leadership/business/technical acumen, asking for help when needed, reporting progress to management. This has been the biggest flaw in recent candidates. Need someone that's sharp and polished. Job Description **role will be hybrid remote -- role will be predominantly REMOTE but to ensure that there's an understood expectation for minimal onsite presence as needed (will be given plenty of advanced notice-- will be for quarterly Town Hall meetings, occasional in-person meetings as specifically required for assigned work, etc.)-- likely 2-3x/quarter. **candidate must be OPEN to coming to Richmond, VA to pick up laptop-- if they live too far, there's ways around this-- BUT they will eventually have to come on-site for badging, which is non-negotiable. Not looking for candidates that have only supported core monolithic projects-- Over 300 applications in their environment-- and a good percentage are home-grown .NET applications-- and there's a huge push to move to Azure cloud. So, this person will be supporting multiple different facets within the top 3 skills found above, as they make this push. Details around the push to the cloud: - Move into Azure cloud, as well as professional cloud environments and take advantage of SaaS solutions (any experience here is a huge plus). - Architect would be primarily supporting of initiatives around this-- need someone that can jump in and hit the ground running. - Need someone with an extremely broad portfolio of experience-- could be supporting impact analysis on one application one day, then completing detailed coordinating governance documents on another item the next. Responsibilities: Create overall application and solution architectures, component designs, and systems integration and implementations for a particular business solution. Create data models and xml schemas at all levels including conceptual, logical, and physical for both relational and dimensional solutions. Models will include objects, entities, attributes, their inter-relationships and dependencies in 3N and/or dimensional formats Integrate disparate data models into coherent enterprise data models Create data dictionaries and business glossaries to document data lineages, data definitions, and metadata for all business-critical data domains Work to identify master data (entities and attributes) and capture how data is interpreted by users in various parts of the organization lead efforts in defining, documenting and estimating the following for enterprise applications. Capture requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, on- prem, hybrid and cloud topologies, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, system inputs and output. collaborate with other IT staff to assess business needs and requirements and translate them into automated solutions produce relevant solution design artifacts including but not limited to technical estimates, conceptual, logical and physical system designs, sequence diagrams, and data models Will coordinate new system development to ensure it is consistent and well integrated with existing application systems and COTS solutions Analyze and estimate feasibility and compatibility with hardware and other programs; and will consult with clients to prototype, architect, and design applications to meet needs. Collaborate with Business areas and cross- functional Enterprise Architects to fully understand business needs and provide strategic consultation Partner with architects, other technical team members and to develop roadmaps and strategies to support agency KPIs Design/Implement Enterprise Security/technology Patterns Consult with teams as needed on initiatives and provide tactical direction as well as provide architecture considerations on legacy solutions Qualifications: Experience with SAFe architecture and proven work experience with Agile/Scrum teams. Proven experience in developing enterprise and solution level architectural designs. Proven experience in overseeing the linking of cross-functional applications between disparate business units and systems. Experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodology development, and data mapping. Knowledge of relational database design and management techniques. Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc. Strong knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies. Competency with XML constructs and schemas. Confidence and experience with API protocols and schemas such as SOAP and REST. Strong understanding of end-user needs and requirements. Broad understanding of Data Architecture and Data Management approaches and implementation methodologies Ability to work with business as well as IT stakeholders experience designing large scale data models for functional, operational and analytical environments Demonstrated experience in Conceptual, Logical, Physical and Dimensional Modeling Excellent understanding of the organizations goals and objectives.
