Execute daily operations for physical/virtual server, including system performance monitoring, configuration, maintenance, backups, and repair. Lead the installation, modification, and maintenance of systems and utility software on server computer systems following established procedures. Implement revisions to host system firmware and software in accordance with established procedures. Collaborate with vendors to facilitate support activities and troubleshoot complex AIX/Linux/TSM-related issues. Design and execute AIX/Linux/TSM system and application implementation plans, custom scripts, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability. Develop, implement, and maintain AIX/Linux/TSM monitoring, configuration management, and reporting functions. Lead problem-solving efforts, often liaising with outside vendors, support personnel, and other departments/divisions. Provide specialized server support related to AIX/Linux/TSM and other software/applications following established procedures. Implement established procedures, processes, and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications using TSM. Participate in scheduled on-call rotation and after-hours support for AIX/Linux/TSM Infrastructure-related emergencies and scheduled weekend maintenance. Mentor, coach, and cross-train team members on existing and new AIX/Linux/TSM technologies. Communicate with customers and staff at a technical level, as required. Additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 5 years work experience managing AIX/Linux/TSM virtualized/physical infrastructure and storage devices, with a demonstrated ability to resolve complex systems issues. Expert knowledge of AIX/Linux/VIO/PowerVM/PowerHA/HMC/TSM. Experience in a UCS-based VMWare Linux environment and an IBM Power server-based AIX environment. Advanced understanding of AIX/Linux administration, AD/LDAP/DNS administration, Group Policy design and configuration. Expert knowledge in networking as related to server environments and virtualization. Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and demonstrate a high degree of personal & professional initiative. Proven experience in mentoring and coaching junior team members.
