Position: Compensation Analyst & Classification & Compensation Analyst, USC or GC Only Location: Onsite in Providence, RI Duration: 18-24+ Month MOI: Phone and Video Compensation Analyst: The Compensation Analyst works within the Human Capital Management (HCM) division and completes job and position analyses to ascribe appropriate compensation. HCM provides services for all agencies and programs within state government related to compensation strategy, programs and analysis, job classification (descriptions) evaluation and reviews, civil service and non-civil service examinations, consultation on organizational design. The incumbent should have expertise in labor and compensation structures, the proven ability to conduct research related to compensation; review individual job classifications; and conduct regional and national labor market-driven compensation studies to recommend competitive salary rates for newly proposed classifications and/or pay grade changes to existing classifications. The individual in this role studies education and experience levels of jobs to ensure comparisons are accurate by scope of job responsibility, span of authority, and level of complexity. The compensation analyst provides information on and recommends compensation packages to appropriately classify and compensate incumbents. The successful candidate will possess advanced technical, analytical skills; knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods; and excellent written and verbal communication skills. A bachelors degree in human resources management, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field, and three to five years of related experience is required. Experience working with unions is a plus. This is a temporary assignment, with an estimated duration of 18-months, reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources/Personnel Administrator and on-site in Providence, RI. Department of Administration (DOA), Human Capital Management (HCM) Classification and Compensation Analyst: The Classification and Compensation analyst works within the Human Capital Management (HCM) division and is responsible for completing job and position analyses for proper classification and compensation. HCM provides services for all agencies and programs within state government related to compensation strategy, programs and analysis, job classification (descriptions) evaluation and reviews, civil service and non-civil service examinations, consultation on organizational design. The incumbent should have expertise in labor and compensation structures, the proven ability to conduct research related to remuneration to review individual job classifications, and the ability to conduct regional and national labor market-driven compensation studies to recommend competitive salary rates for newly proposed classifications and/or pay grade changes to existing classifications. The individual in this role studies education and experience levels of jobs to ensure comparisons are accurate by scope of job responsibility, span of authority and level of complexity. The analyst in this role provides information on and recommends compensation packages to appropriately classify and compensate incumbents. He/she works with agency staff and consultants to incorporate compensation meta-analysis within an evolving re-alignment of state classifications by management level, job family and job hierarchy re- organization. The incumbent conducts employee reclassification position analysis through direct interviews to collect real-time job duties, responsibilities, and functions. The successful candidate will possess advanced technical, analytical, and quantitative skills. A bachelors degree in human resources management, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field, and three to five years of related experience is required. A Masters degree is preferred. Experience working with unions is a plus.
