Required Skills:

Job Description: 

The Cloud Platform team is a newly formed team tasked with enabling our product teams, developers, and IT partners to take advantage of AWS offerings. We do this by identifying AWS offerings which can bring value to the organization and standardizing their implementation in an extensible, automated, and securely available pattern. This enables our stakeholders to quickly identify and implement services and solutions which fit their needs.

This role will function as a Principal AWS SME to support and accelerate our journey into AWS. This role will partner with IT and product teams understand existing and future AWS needs, define project scope, and help identify, develop, and implement highly available solutions with a high level of automation and extensibility. You will help create and drive AWS standards and best practices, drive an automation first mindset, and act as a technical leader for AWS.

This role will have both engineering, operations, and technical leadership/mentorship components.

Specific skills and experience needed -

Designing, building, and supporting applications in AWS using common AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, and Containers.

Deep experience with core AWS services (VPC, CloudWatch, compute, networking, storage)

Partnering with IT and product teams to understand/develop project scope and design solutions.

Writing and supporting Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation)

Experience identifying, developing, and implementing automation opportunities.

Identifying, developing, implementing, and driving standards and their adoption.

Communication - Person should be comfortable presenting/leading discussions to audiences of varying technical knowledge.

Must be able to follow processes in a highly regulated environment.

Closely partner with IT teams to identify, update, and implement standards and best practices as we continue to move into AWS.

Day to day tasks

Work tickets assigned to Cloud Platform team for common AWS services (EC2, EBS, S3, VPC, Certificate Manager, etc)

Work with external teams to assist in troubleshooting application/service issues related to AWS.

Work with external teams to review/understand existing on-prem standards, practices, and processes and partner with them to drive updates and best practices as we move into AWS.

Writing extensible IaC (Terraform/CloudWatch).
