Previous Government sector experience HIGHLY PREFERRED 46 different sites across the county MUST BE ABLE TO PASS CJIS BACKGROUND Primary Tech Stack Primarily a Cisco Shop Utilizes Palo Alto Firewalls F5 Load Balancing Cisco 9800 Moving towards a Cisco ACI (about 75% there already) Current and Upcoming Project Initiatives 23 building remodeling projects New building pop ups Upgrading network framework and infrastructure across county Upgrading wifi across all buildings 3 data centers currently, leaving one and will just have 2 Upgrading those data center technologies once moved Dallas County Jail- Upgrade to 300 access points (cameras, card readers, and other associated projects to that) Build out additional wireless infrastructure. Currently has 1,000 and needs to be at 1,500 in the next year. Job Description: As a Software Defined Networking (SDN) Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and maintain software-defined network solutions that enhance the agility, scalability, and efficiency of the organization's network infrastructure. You will play a key role in shaping and deploying cutting-edge SDN technologies to meet the evolving needs of the business. Key Job Duties SDN Solution Design: Collaborate with network architects and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and design SDN solutions that align with organizational goals. Develop high-level and low-level design documentation for SDN implementations. Implementation and Configuration: Deploy SDN controllers and orchestration platforms. Configure and manage network devices to integrate with SDN controllers. Implement network policies and automation scripts to streamline network operations. Troubleshooting and Optimization: Investigate and resolve issues related to SDN infrastructure and connectivity. Optimize SDN configurations for performance, scalability, and reliability. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including network operations, security, and application development teams, to ensure seamless integration of SDN solutions. Communicate technical concepts and solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices for SDN environments. Ensure SDN solutions comply with relevant industry standards and regulations. Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in the SDN space. Evaluate new tools and technologies for potential integration into the network architecture. Responsibilities Maintain and document the group's internal labs including network setup, server builds, VM creation, and license management all while looking for ways to improve efficiencies through automation and the management of resource utilization Build out testbeds including physical installation of hardware (switches, routers and servers) and maintaining these testbeds Create Linux & WireGuard user accounts (Ansible based creation for lab environment) and determine appropriate levels of access Troubleshoot network communication issues by either fixing the problem or provide an alternative method for issues reported Submit, manage, and document firewall requests using a variety of internal systems specific to each Telecommunication network Work with the SDN Architecture and Development team and understand new technology/design, changes to existing technology/design and what is required of internal group labs to support the changes Run regression tests for BNC against new vendor codes and generate a test exit report for the results Run regression tests for new BNC codes and ensure all new features are supported Act as tier 4 support for the ME labs and resolve any bugs/issues encountered during BNC NC testing working with vendors and the SDN architecture team Keywords: ffive green card North Carolina |
