This person is going to have to be solo in a group of other smart people. Its remote work with an aggressive background check process and a short engagement length. The team communications mostly via slack and zoom and is distributed across the country. They primarily work in Central US time. Responsibilities * Review and improve performance metrics capabilities of AWS RDS based PostgreSQL transaction databases * Identify performance bottlenecks in PostgreSQL databases such as inefficient use of indexes, poor query design, and trigger management * Work with Architecture and DevOps teams to provide and execute remediation plans for database performance issues. * Suggest and implement improvements to existing monitoring and management processes to speed response time to problems. Required Skills * 5+ years PostgreSQL Database Administration * Strong understanding of DB performance tuning and challenges * Strong AWS and RDS expertise * DB Architecture design principles. * PostgreSQL management and measurement tools * Good problem solver, focused and dedicated with ability to work on your own as well as with a team. * Hands on experience with DB standards and end user applications. * Must be a self-starter with a strong attention to detail. * Experience with an organization with a key reliance on 24x7 availability for its database.
