Systems Administrator with Coding Experience Company: State of Wisconsin Location: Madison, Wisconsin 53713 (Remote 4-5 days per week, with potential for 1 day in-office) Work Arrangement: 6+ month contract, possibility of extension; Relocation allowed within 30 days of job offer Visas Allowed: US Citizen, Green Card, GCEAD, H4-EAD Visa, OPT-EAD Visa (minimum 18 months eligibility remaining or eligible for extension) Employment Type: Contractor Pay Rate: $50/hr. (C2C) Interview Mode: Online Zoom interview with live video feed (1-2 interviews total) Role Overview: The Systems Administrator with Coding Experience will play a crucial role in administering complex, multi-platform computer systems and applications for the State of Wisconsin's Bureau of Technology and Services (BITS)/Technical Operations Support Section (TOSS) Operations Services Unit (OSU). The position involves providing 24/7 on-call support, consulting, and systems administration for both hosted and non-hosted computing environments, including Agency Managed Application servers and remote multi-function servers. The focus is on supporting the Department's mission by designing, maintaining, and providing third-level support for critical systems. Responsibilities: Provide systems administration, 24/7 on-call support, and consulting for the Department's computing environments. Support approximately 80 Agency Managed Application servers (AMAS) and 18 remote multi-function servers. Envision, develop, design, plan, test, secure, implement, and refine DHS IT systems and services. Perform web application systems administration, client/server systems administration, Citrix web application delivery and support, directory services administration, LAMP stack systems, and Windows server administration. Manage data storage, backup/restore, application/systems monitoring, and anti-virus management. Work on the design and maintenance of the Agency's most complex systems. Collaborate with a cross-functional technical team. Required Skills: 4-6 years of experience in analyzing, designing, and implementing complex computer systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational and workload coordination skills. Desired Skills: Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST and CIS.
