I Hope you are doing well. I have an urgent requirement for a  Mechanical Engineer With Medical Engineer to locationPlymouth, MN(Onsite).  Please have a look and let me know if you are interested.

Title : Mechanical Engineer with Medical Device

Location : Plymouth, MN

Years of experience : 8+ Years

Area of focus: Product Design and Development

1.

a.

Offer critical evaluation and input.  Function as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) for dynamic system model development for next generation syringe infusion system, including such activities as

               i.

Reviewing empirical model developed to-date and offering insights to strengthen rationale and improve model 

with system equations and assumptions (See detail in Exhibit B)

              ii.

Developing theoretical model with system equations and assumptions (See detail in Exhibit B)

              iii.

Modeling Flow rate and volume delivered under various infusion parameters

b.

Implement and/or update the syringe dynamic model in the Matlab/Simulink software (or related toolboxes that ICU already has access to) (See detail in Exhibit C)

c.

Provide training to the ICU Engineers on how the model takes inputs, performs calculations, and provides required outputs

d.

Work with the ICU project team members to identify and obtain appropriate data sets for model development and model verification/validation

e.

Author model verification/validation protocol & report drafts as needed and participate in the test execution (to be released in the ICU documentation system by the project team members)

f.

Ensure model development and verification/validation are in compliance with applicable standards (such as IEC 62304) and FDA guidance documents

g.

Identify limitations of the lumped system modeling approach (using ordinary differential equations that do not require FEA modeling) and prioritize which aspects should consider distributed system modeling elements (using FEA modeling), if any

h.

Document work in a white paper with links (including attachments) to additional detail (such as powerpoint presentations, videos, MATLAB/Simulink files with example data sets)

Methods:

Use Differential Equation(s) and identify/separate model response to varying input conditions using techniques such as

-Identify poles (base exponential or power model functions) and zeros (multipliers constants or functions operating on the base functions)

                                           -Using Laplace transforms

                             -Identify Mode functions (above contributors in solution space)

                             -Identify Input / output vs state-space forms of differential equations

                             -Separate Homogeneous vs particular solutions

                             -Model Forced inputs (& variations)

-Apply to varying initial conditions

Integration/Synthesis of the Methods:

-Apply concepts from Modeling and analysis (a.k.a. Simulation and Visualization) of dynamic systems and

- Use mode functions and poles analysis to improve predictability of model over and above that of the predictability of the existing flow curve model

- Use a combination of input-output and state-space system equations to separate base model (homogeneous solution) from effect of initial conditions and forced inputs (particular solutions) (so as to minimize # of tests needed to validate the model and strengthen rationale for syringe parameter selection as it relates to delivery start-up performance in order to expedite product development for additional syringes)

Deliverables:

Provide resourcing to continue empirical work in syringe dynamic modeling (replacing reduced hours from another consultant) to meet current syringe dynamic modeling objectives

- Develop stronger theoretical model (removing reliance on empirical model to the extent possible to reduce test/validation burden) 

via System equations development & solution identification

via Data comparisons (model vs testing) and validation

- Ensure FDA guidance document conformance for model validation

- Develop methods (code) for model validation

- Author Model Verification/Validation Protocol, test results analysis and conclusion, and report

-Qualifications:

PhD in Mechanical Engineering

- Computational modeling using MATLAB and Simulink

- CAD software (Solid works)

- Kinematic and dynamic analysis of mechanisms

- Component, Sub-system, and System level physical and mathematical relationships (equations) development for fluid-mechanical system

-20+ years of relevant Mechanical Engineering experience
