Job summary:

The Discovery Specialist is responsible managing the ServiceNow Discovery and Application/Service Mapping lifecycles along with their associated technologies to ensure an accurate and reliable CMDB. They are the subject matter expert (SME) for infrastructure discovery and application service mapping. They will work closely with other technology SMEs to build and maintain accurate application service maps.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Collaborate with a technical and business stakeholder to implement effective ServiceNow solutions.

Development of new modules, functionalities, customizations, integrations, and workflow automations on the ServiceNow platform.

Conduct thorough reviews of existing ServiceNow architecture, offering insightful recommendations for enhancements and improvements.

Work closely with fellow developers and architects to ensure the timely and impeccable delivery of solutions.

Participate in comprehensive code reviews, provide valuable input for refining business processes, and engage in rigorous problem analysis.

Evaluate and research third-party software options, conducting meticulous feasibility studies to determine optimal integration solutions within the ServiceNow environment.

Actively engage in daily stand-ups, sprint planning sessions, and retrospectives to meticulously plan, monitor, and execute development tasks.

Offer on-call support, fostering collaboration and assisting fellow team members in overcoming challenges and impediments.

Proactively identify and resolve technical issues and obstacles, maintaining a steadfast focus on continuous improvement.

Provide expert assistance to multiple teams seeking to integrate their workflows into the ServiceNow platform.

Employ your troubleshooting and debugging expertise to resolve complex issues within existing solutions.

Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation.

Stay at the forefront of ServiceNow's best practices, industry trends, and emerging functionality, ensuring the implementation of cutting-edge solutions.

Required skills:

5+ years of experience in designing and implementing successful ServiceNow solutions, including customizations, integrations, and workflow automations.

Extensive experience with ServiceNow architecture, development, and administration.

Expertise in leveraging Flow Designer and legacy workflow editor to create intuitive and user-friendly automated workflows.

Extensive experience with the ServiceNow Integration Hub and proficiently integrating diverse applications.

In-depth knowledge of ServiceNow Discovery and CMDB (Configuration Management Database), enabling accurate and comprehensive mapping of IT assets and infrastructure.

Proficiency in the Vulnerability Response module would be considered a valuable asset.

Strong understanding of creating and implementing efficient business rules, client scripts, script includes, UI policies, UI Actions etc.

Solid grasp of Access Control Lists (ACLs), effectively defining and enforcing data access restrictions to ensure data security and compliance.

Experience in designing and consuming RESTful web services within the ServiceNow environment, enabling seamless integrations with external systems and services.

Familiarity with advanced ServiceNow features such as Service Portal and Virtual Agent, empowering end-users with self-service capabilities and AI-powered assistance.

Proven ability to troubleshoot and debug technical issues across the ServiceNow platform, utilizing a systematic approach to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.

Proven track record in application development on the ServiceNow platform, including designing, coding, testing, and deploying custom applications.

Extensive experience in providing Level 1 and Level 2 support for ServiceNow applications, adeptly resolving user issues, troubleshooting technical problems, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operation of the platform.

Proficient in Agile and ITIL methodologies, with a strong understanding of SDLC processes.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, translating complex requirements into tangible solutions.

Strong problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a proactive mindset.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Ability managing multiple priorities with professionalism and efficiency.

ServiceNow Admin and Developer certification(s) preferred.

Continuous learning mindset, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in the ServiceNow ecosystem.

Qualifications:

4 to 8 years of experience in ServiceNow development and Discovery

Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS), including leveraging EC2, EBS, S3, RDS, and Cloud formation services in an enterprise production environment

Knowledge of Windows Server administration, Active Directory, LDAP, Single-Sign-on, authentication, user and group policy objects, and permission levels

Knowledge of UNIX or Linux Server administration, including user permission levels, SUDO virtualization, including VMware, containerization, and Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift

Knowledge of all aspects of infrastructure devices (i.e., server, network device, network protocols, application technologies, operating systems basics)

Experience with the ServiceNow CMDB and Discovery and how it supports other ITSM processes (e.g.: Incident, Problem, Change, and Asset Mgt.)

Flexibility and adaptability to change, and continuous learning mindset

Strong decision making and problem-solving skills

Mentoring abilities where appropriate.
