Title: R&D Engineer Location: CA, Irvine Duration: 12+Months Experience: 6+Yrs Note: Please do not submit OPT, CPT & H4 Job Description: Technical/Functional Skills Experience in New Product Development (NPD) with CAD software such as AutoCad or Solidworks is required. Strong knowledge on GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning &Tolerancing) Knowledge and experience in product development processes and design control is preferred. Experience with statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE) preferred. In-depth knowledge of design of medical devices (neurovascular) preferred. Ability to be a technical leader on multi-functional teams Must possess strong communication skills, written and verbal Ability to solve complex problems Roles & Responsibilities Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, the duties and responsibilities for this position are: Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of his/her field and related sciences and disciplines As an individual researcher, carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures. Work is expected to result in the development of new or improved techniques or procedures. Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined equipment, materials, processes, products, and/or methods Supervision and guidance related largely to overall requirements, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters Consults with supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments Assists technicians and engineers regarding unusual problems. Responsible for purchasing and designing equipment that meets safety and environment requirements. Performs process/product validation activities. Is responsible for providing support to several production lines. Complies with the Quality Procedures and Laws and Regulations of the applicable markets. Provides support in the creation and modification of metrics and reporting tools for the productivity of the team. Participates or facilitates studies for: Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA) with the engineering group, maintenance and manufacturing. Uses advanced design software such as: Autocad, Pro-E, or Solidworks. Effective development and design concepts. Actively takes the initiative to recognize improvement areas in the existing products for costs reduction. Relates and works closely with other departments in order to improve the existing products and processes. Develops and executes product development plans and programs in short and long term. Ensures the necessary drawings, specifications and tests that are properly documented through the product development cycle. Complies with the regulations of the company, local, state and federal, as well as with the procedures and policies regarding Safety and Hygiene, Health and Environment.
