Job Title : Mainframe DB2 z/OS DBA Job Location: USA, Remote Job Duration : Long term contract position Job Description :- Open position for an experienced DB2 z/OS DBA using DB2 Version 11 or 12 in a sysplex datasharing environment. Rotating 24x7 oncall support will be required. TECHNICAL: Expert knowledge of DB2 version 11/12 on the z/OS platform Ability to work within a team environment and communicate effectively with others Represent the database team in application development projects with business analysts Promote DB2 best practices and new features to developers during application design and implementation Ability to mentor others, including junior DBAs and application developers, as well as clearly explain complex technical issues to business analysts and end users Proficiency with logical and physical data modeling design concepts Solid performance tuning experience in assisting developers with SQL queries, indexing, stored procedures, triggers and resolving concurrency issues Experience with table partitioning and maintaining very large databases Creation and maintenance of database objects (tables, columns, indexes, etc) Implement best practices for database backup and recovery strategies Experience in setting and scheduling of database maintenance utilities, with different restrictive levels tailored to application usage with the organization. Demonstrated knowledge of third party tools (Omegamon, IBM DB2 Admin, BMC, CDB, CA, etc) Ability to make decisions and demonstrate problem solving skills, analysis, prioritization and risk taking Ability to plan and execute a project to completion Demonstrate personal ownership of assignments Proactively raise and resolve issues Strong ability to multitask EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree required Several years experience in a senior DBA role supporting DB2 (version 9 or higher) production systems in a 24x7 business environment IBM Certification is a plus I'm interested in getting to know you better and introducing our company.
