Job type: Technical Project Manager Years of experience: 5+ Years Location : Flowood, MS (Onsite) ONLY GC USC GCEAD H4EAD (Must have GREAT communication) Top languages: Cobol & Java About the position: BCBS/MS is hiring a team of 10 Junior Developers (basically straight out of college) that will be going through a 6-month training & development program where they are learning Java & Cobol and also shadowing existing Java/Cobol developers as they learn, they will be added to projects based on where their skill level is and this Project Manager will be overseeing this. During their training, the PM will be monitoring their progress and will be assigning them to the different existing teams/projects given their individual skill level theyll be working with the junior developers to answer questions, help guide in their training, maybe even helping with light development if possible theyll be delegating tasks and priorities, and also working with internal employees to determine project needs to make sure theyre assigning the right people to the right areas. This person will for sure need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowing theyll be working with young, junior developers theyll need to have patience and a helpful/teaching mentality, theyll need to want to see these developers grow and will want to help grow them. Someone with great experience working with teams of junior developers is probably going to be very important, and if they have any coding experience (especially in Java and Cobol), that would be incredibly beneficial. I would definitely try to focus on that at least to start. They want to have an offer to this person within the next 2-4 weeks. However, the start date is going to be January 15th, 2024. That sounds like a long time from now but next week is a wash with Thanksgiving and then were coming up on Christmas & New Years so they want to have an offer to this person before the Christmas break for sure. There are a LOT of perks to working here when the position goes perm; permanent employees receive free health insurance, they have an onsite gym with free exercise classes, and an onsite cafeteria. MUST HAVE: 5+ years of PM experience (the more the better), specifically with software development/application projects Must have great job longevity we cant send anyone who has only worked a lot of 1-2 year contracts.
