From: John, IDC Technologies.com [email protected] Reply to: [email protected] Position - Systems Administrator III Location: Brighton, MI/Remote Dept: Information Tech LSI Individuals within the IT Operations Administrators job family are responsible for the operations of secure and highly available computing platforms, servers, and networks. They, install, maintain and upgrade the enterprise's operating environment. They also maintain the ongoing reliability, performance and support of the infrastructure. This includes monitoring the operating environments; responding to problems and planning for growth. Additional functions and processes include service and product management, performance and capacity management, patching and version management and problem resolution. IT Operations Administrators deploy the release of new technologies as well as design, install, configure, maintain and perform testing of PC/server operating systems, networks, and related utilities and hardware. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting problems as reported by users, supporting Web access and electronic messaging services and maintaining a secure systems environment. They also provide new hardware specifications to users based on application needs and anticipated growth, install new servers and maintain the server infrastructure. IT Operations Administrators need good communication skills and must be able to work collaboratively with customers and other technical colleagues. Individuals work across all functional areas of the enterprise and use a strong customer service orientation to ensure that all requests and problems are resolved in a professional manner. They share their expertise and provide individual training and support. IT Operations Administrators work with other technical staff and vendors to provide IT services to all customers. Work Complexity: Maintains, monitors and supports the infrastructure environment. Leads enterprise base work initiatives and projects. Develops enhanced production monitoring and additional capability. Defines improvements increased system reliability and performance. Supports multiple systems or applications of medium to high complexity (complexity defined by size, technology used, and system feeds and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility. Acts as the technical liaison between operations teams, engineers and architects, providing critical operational insight to upcoming implementations and strategies, including validation of ongoing solutions supportability. Education/ Experience: Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. 5 years of relevant information technology, security, network or storage management work experience required. 3 years experience administering servers in an enterprise environment and experience designing, configuring, and deploying server hardware required. Relevant certification is required. 5 years administering servers in an enterprise environment and at least 5 years of experience designing, configuring, and deploying IT systems required.
