Expertise in integrating OpenTelemetry with ElasticSearch and evaluating alternative open-source tracing solutions. Creating documentation to assist developers in implementing OpenTelemetry. Essential Qualifications: Proficiency in Observability, particularly OpenTelemetry libraries, agents, and collectors. Skilled in Elastic APM and its amalgamation with OpenTelemetry-instrumented services. Competency in Kubernetes in an AWS environment. Familiarity with Clickhouse, Grafana, Helm. Key Outputs: Competent handling of large-scale Elastic Search operations. Effective integration and visualization of application logs and distributed traces. Create and distribute detailed documentation and guidelines for developers to instrument applications using Observability tools. Utilization of Elasticsearch logs and APM data for superior operational insights and cost efficiency. Work Description: Implement and support the ElasticSearch stack within the DaX platform, operating in AWS environments crucial for our syndication efforts. Participate in the Observability initiative, aiming to improve application performance and cost-effectiveness through ElasticSearch and other open-source tracing tools in conjunction with OpenTelemetry. Principal Duties: Maintain and optimize AWS ElasticSearch instances for syndication, adhering to budget constraints. Develop Observability solutions focusing on OpenTelemetry for service instrumentation, leveraging OpenTelemetry libraries, agents, and collectors. Integrate Elastic APM with OpenTelemetry-enhanced services for practical data analysis and flow. Advance ElasticSearch functionalities post-Splunk transition, emphasizing features like actionable alerts, anomaly detection in logs, and comprehensive transaction transparency for in-depth root cause analysis. Manage extensive Elastic Search deployments, including data input, Kibana visualization, analysis, logging, and storage. Streamline the ingestion of application logs and traces and create meaningful dashboards. Business Advantages of Investment: Post-transition to ElasticSearch from Splunk, the goal is to derive efficiencies via enhanced data insights. Syndication and other departments aim to bolster their visibility by incorporating distributed tracing as a high-grade service, leading to better operational effectiveness, decision-making, and cost optimization. Specific Project Stage/System Supported: Involvement in the DaX (Data as an Experience) platform, utilizing Kubernetes, Docker, ElasticSearch, and OpenTelemetry within an AWS framework.
