Responsibilities and Skills: Job ID: MI-125440 Location: Lansing, MI (DTMB) Duration: 9+ Months Skills: 5+ years of Database administration specifically on the oracle platform, version 19c and above. Solaris and Red Hat Linux experience. SQL Experience. Over 1+ years of experience creating, updating and maintaining systems documentation. Description: The position is responsible for providing Infrastructure DBA support for the MDSS modernization project. As an mid-level Database Administrator, under guidance of immediate supervisor or senior DBA, participates in 247 software and hardware support for Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools following industry and DTMB development standards. Helps develop and/or submit for approval, plans for testing and implementation of ALM tools. Evaluate impacts of change and new technology, recommend solutions to persistent problems, and serve Agency Services liaison to external consultants. Individual tasks related to the duty: Follow and enforce database standards, policies & procedures. Research and draft guidelines within the boundaries of current policies and standards. Monitor space allocation across databases. Under direction of a senior-level DBA, perform adjustments in test and development environments as necessary and as prescribed by predefined standards/guidelines. Calculate disk space requirements for existing and/or new installations of existing business needs working with a senior-level DBA as necessary. Modify DBMS parameters based on capacity changes as determined by senior-level DBA as necessary. Under the authorization of a senior-level DBA, configure and execute database integrity checks. Monitor for database integrity checks. Report integrity issues to senior level DBAs. Under the authorization of a senior-level DBA, install database management software for development and test environments. Under the authorization of a senior-level DBA, install database patches and service packs for development and test environments. Under the authorization of a senior-level DBA, monitor and support clustered database environments. Under the authorization of a senior-level DBA, monitor and support database replication and backup environments. Under the authorization of a senior-level DBA, implement the strategy to release unused space or repair fragmentation in test and development environments. Under the authorization of a senior-level DBA, execute (run) scripts provided by Systems Analysts or Database Architect/Designer for creating and modifying database objects (tables, views, constraints, indexes, etc.) Monitor database back-ups to ensure recoverability. Troubleshoot backup errors and report unresolved issues to a senior-level DBA. Monitor database jobs and scheduled processes in development, test and production environments. Notify senior-level DBAs and application support staff about any issues. Participate in troubleshooting. Monitor database environments (using alert logs, trace files, alert mechanisms, and other tools) for issues and problems with database functionality, connectivity, or downtime.
