ABOUT THE ROLE: Target years of experience 5-7 years of QA experience Top Technical Skills: QA experience Automation experience Performed testing on web-based applications and testing APIs, mobile app CI/CD pipeline Project Scope/Details: Knows automation, doesn't need guidance but can provide it. Some manual testing but on a high level. Mobile experience is a big plus, API, some database work is great. Needs to have hands on experience in building automation. Good communication skills - collaborative, motivated to learn (see more on soft skills below). JavaScript will be used more than Python, Ruby, etc. Working knowledge of Python. Kashif is good with test automation using tools like Cypress or PlayWright. He is not too hung up on the tools, as long as they feel like JavaScript (preferred) or Python is something they are able to handle. Job Description: The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for producing test documents, leading testing procedures, and ensuring the successful deployment of software/product solutions, leading to consumer satisfaction and the subsequent success of the business. He/she is tasked with developing manual and automated tests and creates a zero-tolerance culture for bugs and defects in the software/products that the business offers. Also leads the development of functionality, regression, and testing solutions as well as the development of test plans for both existent and new software/products. Responsibilities Defines testing methodologies, templates, and standards and best practices Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of deliverables Identify test requirements from specifications, map test case requirements and design test coverage plan Work in direct collaboration with Business Analysts to understand requirements and develop test plans, test cases, and verify test results. Provide regular reports of testing results to Business Analysts Able to design, implement, and maintain automation frameworks from conception to the implementation of CI/CD practices Experience in automating complex Web, Mobile, API, DB and desktop-based applications using any of the tools (Cypress/Playwright/Puppeteer) Strong programming skills in any of these Python/JavaScript/Java/Ruby/Golang Executes and creates test plans and clear, concise test scripts for new products or enhancements to existing products. Defines comprehensive scenarios and variations in data to adequately perform testing Schedules and performs functional, integration, regression, and release testing; submits errors and issues to development for correction, and retests once errors have been corrected. Reports test results and status as appropriate. Tracks defects and causal analysis to closure Conduct and facilitate test plan/case reviews with cross-functional team members Identify any potential quality issues per defined process and escalate potential quality issues immediately to management Ensure that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements Identify and address issues before handing off product for UAT and implementation Identify any potential issues per defined processes and escalate potential issues to mgmt. Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes Prepare required test documentation, store, and retain as per department standards and procedures. Works under pressure and can manage competing priorities Meets or exceeds expectations on process turnaround for assigned tasks and follow ups, and issue resolution to closure Familiarity with Unit testing would be great Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, or related technical field or satisfactory combination of formal education and experience 5+ years of practical experience in an Information Technology department 3+ years supporting business systems 3+ years of relevant QA technical experience Strong interpersonal skills to interact with team members, customers, and vendors Experience in database testing including designing and manipulating test data Additional Info: Soft Skills/Culture fit: Kashifs current team struggles with coping with changes.
