Reviews detailed business and technical requirements in order to recommend technical solutions. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: Day 2 administration in cloud database maintenance and life cycle management Provides advanced level engineering design functions. Develops complex solutions from business requirements and architectural specifications; provides input to set or amend architectural specifications. Creates presentations and seeks IT managements approval and acceptance of significant replacements or reconfigurations of major business systems serving the enterprise. Directs the construction of architecture components (e.g., data architecture, application architecture, technical architecture). Participates in the design of the enterprise architecture. Proposes opportunities to improve results based on targeted or continuous assessment. Our desired candidate: Provide architectural guidance, assistance, and technical leadership with public cloud databases Demonstrate maturity and understanding of cloud database provisioning in one or more public cloud (AWS, Azure, and GCP) offerings, in particular AWS Hands-on knowledge with one or more of the following: MySQL, PostgreSQL, RDS, Oracle, SQL Server Database migration using AWS services: VPC/SG, EC2, S3, Autoscaling, CloudFormation, Snowflake, RDS, Aurora, AWS DMS, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, Docker, Lambda etc. Experience in defining, developing, and implementing automated processes for cloud databases (monitoring, alerting, backup, recovery, tagging, etc.) Work closely with development teams, cloud security & compliance, and infrastructure teams, etc. to execute on auto scaling and right sizing cloud database cost saving initiatives Subject Matter Expert in migrating on-prem databases to cloud based infrastructure databases Make recommendations and/or drive technical remediation of cloud database issues and troubleshooting Prepare and deliver executive-level cloud database metric to senior leadership and technical teams Manage and maintain our AWS cloud infrastructure, including RDS PostgreSQL databases. Design and implement highly available, scalable, and secure database solutions in AWS. Work closely with developers and other stakeholders to optimize database performance and ensure data integrity. Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies for our databases. Monitor and troubleshoot database issues, and implement corrective actions as needed. Automate database administration tasks using scripting and/or configuration management tools. Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud and database technologies and provide recommendations for improving our infrastructure. Participate in an on-call rotation to provide support for critical database issues Required Professional and Technical Expertise 5+ years of experience on AWS - particularly EC2, S3, IAM, VPC and DMS 4+ years of experience as a cloud DBA, with a focus on AWS and RDS PostgreSQL in a cloud native environment 2+ years of experience with infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform) including Ansible, Shell scripting, Python is desired Solid understanding of distributed computing environments Experience in helping software engineers write performant queries or debug existing queries and assisting with data modeling design Working in a fast-paced environment and also be able to adjust your workflow to fit the task at hand Working knowledge of provisioning and automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Shell scripting, Python is desired Working knowledge of migration tools like AWS DMS and SCT, Oracle Goldengate is preferable Working knowledge of collaboration tools like Confluence, JIRA, Sharepoint and Bitbucket Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 10 years in one or more of the following: information systems, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development and management required; significant experience with multiple technical and business disciplines required; broad-based experience to plan and design highly complex systems; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
